Robocup

We - the Hamburg Dogbots - are in Paderborn now. The journey here was pretty rough, yesterday, since we got stuck in a bad traffic jam. Now that we are here we're using the remaining 2 days (before the competitions commence) for preparations. Please read on for a detailed first day report and some pictures. I'm putting the images and the rest of the report on the 2nd page to avoid too much traffic (which I still get because of the GIMPshop for Windows article).

From April 8th to 10th the German city of Paderborn will be flooded with robots of all sizes. This is when the Robocup German Open 2005 will take place in the Heinz Nixdorf Forum. 64 teams from 12 countries are registered for the competions. The leagues are "Middle Size, Small Size, Four-Legged, Soccer Simulation and Rescue Simulation. New at a RoboCup German Open are competitions in the Rescue Robot League (12 teams) and demonstration games in the Humanoid League (3 teams)" (from the GO2005 site).

My faculty is participating in the Four-Legged League with the Hamburg Dogbots. For the duration of my stay in Paderborn (6.-10.) I will write daily reports with pictures to keep you up-to-date. This should be an interesting 4 days.

German readers are advised to have a look at the official team blog for the Hamburg Dogbots.

Gotta' start packin'
